Switching to E-Sim

I am trying to switch to e-sim from physical sim, but at the end of the process it is prompting me to give an alternate phone number registered to my ID. But I only have one number registered to my ID, which is the one I want to convert. I am not even able to use any of else’s number for this process. Please advise.
